This is a ripping spot to prop up for a few days or more in order to tackle the Alpe D’Huez, Galibier, Croix de Fer, Glandon etc.
You could stay in St Jean de Maurienne (around the other side of this range) but it’s nowhere near as pretty as Bourg d’Oisans.
The camp ground is nice and family oriented.
There’s lots of places to eat in town.
Credit cards are fine, book early as it’s a very popular spot. If it’s booked out, check Allemond down the road, St Sorlin D’Arves on the other side of the Croix de Fer, Valloire between the Galibier and Telegraphe or La Grave up the road from d’Oisans.
With the Etape and Tour looking like they might swing past here next year, you’ll need to book soon.
